Joshua Lindsey

“Music ,like all art, is a language that speaks directly to the soul, it gets past the systems our minds have built to make sense of the world and it moves us toward something new. That can be sublime or painful, it can be both destructive and creative, soothing or unsettling but either way your moving.

Swaddled in the soulful sounds of gospel music and Southern revivals, Joshua has developed a style that has an earthy spirituality while still being accessible to a broad audience. His earliest musical memories are from the booming voice of his mother as she led the congregation in hymns and prayers while also being influenced by the sounds of Motown and classic rock from his fathers radio on the construction site. He carries with him a deep appreciation for his early religious formation while also making room for the questions that accompany a religious upbringing. Joshua began playing piano at the age of 5 and was singing in church as soon as could hold a mic. At 14 he began writing his own original material and recorded his first album at the age of 15. Joshua made the usual stops in his journey, stylistically, beginning with alternative rock in the early years and moving into pop and dabbling a bit with country music before settling nicely into a style that incorporates elements of all three and explores topics such as love, doubt, faith and family. Joshua’s voice  delivers the songs he’s written with a smoky soulfulness that invites the listener to inhabit the story being told. Which is exactly where he wants to meet you.

When he’s not writing, recording or performing. Joshua is enjoying life with his wife and 5 kids in Gulf Shores, Alabama. He passes his free time honing his carpentry skills and surfing at his local break.
